Ingredients
paneer - 1 lbs
ginger - 1" piece
garlic pods - 6 nos
onions - 2 nos (medium) or 400 gms (diced)
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
red chilli powder - 2 tsp
coriander powder - 1 ½ tbs
cumin powder - 1 tbs
tomatoes - 2 nos (large, chopped)
water or whey - 2 3/4 cups
green peas - 5 cups (canned or frozen)
garam masala powder - ½ tsp
vegetable oil - ½ cup
cilantro for garnishing
salt as required
Method
Grind ginger and garlic into a paste or crush them in a mortar and pestle.
Place pressure cooker on high heat and heat the oil.
When the oil is hot add onions and fry till golden brown.
Add prepared ginger and garlic and stir for a few seconds.
Add turmeric, chilli, coriander, and cumin powders, salt, tomatoes and 1/4 cup water or whey.
Stir occasionally and cook till tomatoes are pulpy and oil separates, about 5 mins.
Add peas and saute for about 2mins and add remaining water or whey.
Close cooker and bring to full pressure on high heat, then reduce heat and cook for another min.
Remove cooker from heat and release pressure by slightly lifting the vent weight.
Open cooker and place it on medium heat and add paneer.
Simmer for about 5 mins and stir in garam masala powder.
Serve hot garnished with cilantro.
